Death of Mrs. Brinson

Mrs. Kitty E. Brinson died at her home on Broad street Sunday evening, her death resulting from a stroke of apoplexy, which she had Friday.

Mrs. Brinson was born near Havelock in October 1842 and has been a resident of New Bern for nearly 50 years. Her mother died a short time after making her home here, and in January 1866 she was married to William George Brinson. Three children were born to them -- Messrs. James Brinson of Colorado, and S. M. Brinson, of this city. Her husband died in May 1896.

Mrs. Brinson joined First Baptist Church in 1867, and was a consistent and devoted member, energetic and active in all good causes, sacrificing much and giving liberally to the charitable institutions both inside and outside the church.

For several years she has been president of the Female Benevolent Society, and has been intensely interested in the noble charity which that organization provided.

She is a woman that will be sadly missed in the councils of the church and the many charitable societies. She enters the higher life from a life of loving service and good works.

The funeral services will be held in the First Baptist Church at 5 o’clock this afternoon. Rev. W. A. Ayers will officiate.
