Emily Allen Bixby was born near Silver Creek, Michigan August 18, 1838 and died Jan. 27th, 1914 Aged 75 years 5 months and 9 days. When six years of age her parents moved to Wisconsin where she resided until 1862 when she united in marriage with D.C. Bixby, then she with her husband moved to Illinois where they lived until 1867. They came to Shelby county where she has since resided respected by all. Sister Bixby was the mother of three children, Ernest G., Nellie E. and Mettie G. Nellie died at the age of 14 and Bro. Bixby preceded his wife 12 yrs. Her two remaining children Ernest Bixby and Mrs. Mettie Oliver reside here and were with her in her last sickness. She also leaves to mourn her departure six sisters and two brothers, all living in other states. In early life Sister Bixby gave her heart to God and united with the Missionary Baptist Church and when West Bethany Church was organized she became a charter member. She was ever faithful to her Master and her Church.
