MRS. WILLIAM BRILES
Mrs. William R. Briles died at her home west of Chariton at an early hour on Wednesday morning, October 3, 1934, at the age of 63 years, 3 months and 21 days.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. W. A. Purdy, of the Christian church, were held at the Beardsley Funeral Home on Thursday afternoon at two o'clock, and burial took place in the Chariton cemetery.
Cora Tacker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Tacker, was born near Newbern, Iowa, on June 12, 1871. When quite small she came with other members of her family to Chariton where she grew to womanhood, and the remainder of her life was lived in this vicinity.
She was married in Carthage, Mo., on September 13, 1916, to William R. Briles, also of Chariton. Their home was in this city for several years and they then moved to a farm in Whitebreast township, where a new home had been erected.
Last summer she was taken ill and was taken to the hospital in Rochester, Minn., about Sept. 1, where it was learned that she was suffering with a cancer. She was brought to her home and everything possible was done for her care and comfort and to alleviate her sufferings, which was intense, but death was inevitable.
She is survived by her husband, W. R. Briles, one son, Floyd Salisbury, of Billings, Mont., one sister, Mrs. Lillie Wilson, of Russell; and one brother, Wm. Tacker, of Macksville, Kansas. Her parents, two sisters, Mrs. Eva Lambirth and Mrs. Fannie Britt, and one brother, Lee Tacker, preceded her in death.
