Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Bright, relict of the late John Marshall Bright, was buried Tuesday, from St. Mary's PE Church. Mrs. Bright died suddenly on Monday night of heart failure, in her 52nd year. She was the mother of nine children. Four children survive her, James, Clarence, Calvert and Emma. Mrs. Bright was one of the original founders of the present chapel of St. Mary The Virgin on Orchard Street and was an earnest worker for many years. She was recently elected one of the vice presidents of the Colored Young Women's Association. She also, was an active member of the Metropolitan Aid Association and did many works in the interest of the poor and despised. One son, James H. Bright is a clerk for the Post Office, and one daughter, Emma, is a teacher in the public school system. Mrs. Bright was a caterer and lived at 1238 Division Street. The church service was quite impressive. The floral offerings were many and very handsome. Interment was in Laurel Cemetery. Mr. John Bishop had charge of the arrangements.
