Word was received in Chico last evening of the death at West Branch of Mrs. Bertham [sic] of that place. Fetters & Williams dispatched a wagon and casket to that point last evening to bring the remains to Chico. The phone stated that deceased was about 52 years of age and leaves a husband and five children – three daughters and two sons – but furnished no further particulars.

The remains of Mrs. Clara Brigham, who died at West Branch Friday, were brought to Chico Saturday evening by Undertaker Kingsfield of the firm of Fetters & Williams, and the funeral took place Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Brigham had been a sufferer for seven months. When she returned from Michigan with her husband seven months ago and went to West Branch, she became ill within an hour after arrival. An abscess formed from which she received little relief until death ended her suffering Friday.
Deceased was the wife of R.E. Brigham, who became an employee at the Sierra Lumber Company’s mill. She was born in Oregon, but resided there only two years. With her parents she came to California and located in Yolo county. From there she came to Chico ten years ago, and about two years ago went to Michigan, returning to California after a stay in the east of about a year and a half. She was aged 37 years, 3 months and 3 days, and leaves a husband and two little daughters, the elder being eleven years of age and the younger three years.
During her long and most painful illness she was a patient sufferer. The funeral took place Sunday in Chico.
