Clara [Briggs] Blair, daughter of Benjamin and Lucinda Briggs was born March 3, 1876 in Elkhorn township, Brown County, Illinois, and passed away June 18,1941 at 2:30 a.m. after a lingering illness.
She was aged at the time of her passing 65 years, 3months and 5 days pld. In July 1891 she was united in marriage to Sidnet Blair, who proceeded her in death on March 19,1941. To this union 3 sons were born, who with 10 grandchildren are left to mourn her passing.They are Otha, of Mt. Sterling, George and Benjamin of Elkhorn township. She also leaves other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
The funeral services were held in Marden Church at 2p.m. Friday, June 20, conducted by the Rev. Frank Berry of Mt. Sterling. Mrs. Anna Bradbury and Mrs. J.M. Hume of Versailles sang 3 beautiful nimbers with Mrs. Clarke Mitchell, also of Versailles at the piano.
Pallbearers were Leo Hendricks, Howard Bale, Gay Hill, Cletus Boylen, Roy Zimmerman and A. Bump. Burial was made beside her husband in the Marden Cemetery under the direction of undertaker Tarrant.
