Charles Albert Bridgwater was born in Upper Norton (Bromsgrove) Worcestershire, England, son of Charles Bridgwater and Ellen Fisher. His family immigrated to Canada, arriving at Quebec, Canada, 30 August 1907, on the vessel "Southward" which sailed from Liverpool, England. They continued on and settled at Simcoe in Norfolk Co., Ontario.
Charles was married on 25 June 1912 in Simcoe to Mary (Anne) Olive Hitchcock who was born on 27 September 1893 in North Walsingham, Ontario, daughter of John Hitchcock and Mary Ann Gibson.
Charlie Bridgwater served his country in WW 1 in the Canadian Army. After the war he was a shoe maker in Port Dover for many years. He was a community minded person, serving as a volunteer fireman. He was also a member of the Port Dover Brass Band. He was a member of the Oddfellows lodge.
