Burton W. Bridgewater, 78, of Scottsburg, Indiana died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Scott Memorial Hospital.

He was born September 20, 1931 in Scott County, Indiana, the son of the late Walter S. and Clara (Wilson) Bridgewater.

Burt was married Oct. 1, 1954 to Arlene (Broshears) Bridgewater, who survives.

He was a retired pharmacist & former owner of the old Burt's Pharmacy in Scottsburg, Indiana, was a member of the Scottsburg United Methodist Church, Past Master and member of the Scottsburgh Lodge # 572 F & AM, Past Commander and member of the American Legion Post # 234, member of the Moose Family Center # 2324, served during the Korean War as a Airman 1st Class in the U.S. Air Force and was an Eagle Scout.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son: Mark S. (Elizabeth) Bridgewater of Atlanta, Indiana; a daughter: Cherri D. Hayes of Avon, Indiana; a sister: Dorothy Roberts of Vandalia, Ohio; a half brother: Walter Bridgewater of Lafayette, Indiana and four grandchildren: Shanelle & Morgan Hayes and Weston & Alyssa Bridgewater.

Burt was preceded in death by his parents; a half brother: Byron Hinds; a half sister: Martha Jane Judd and his step-mother: Clarice Bridgewater.
