Ernest Bridge, 89, 1142 Franklin St, died Wednesday.
Mr. Bridge was born Aug 10, 1895 on his family's farm in the Mountain View area of Ferndale. He was a lifelong resident of Whatcom County and served in the Marine Corps in World War I.
He worked as a ship caulker for the old Pacific American Fisheries in Bellingham and Alaska Packers in Blaine, and was a member of the Shipwrights Union Local 2071.
Survivors include his wife Sophie; a daughter Joan Stangeland and her husband Edd of Ferndale; two brothers, Leonard of Mount Vernon and Herbert of Ferndale; a sister Florence Holman of Bellingham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Scott Ernest Stangeland in 1981.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm Monday at the chapel of Greenacres Funeral Home with the Rev. Wilfred Gunderson officiating. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park.
