NEWS ARTICLE Iron River Reporter July 8 1965 “Albert Brey Is Promoted To Colonel” with photo
Albert J. Brey, a native of Caspian and the son of Jack and the late Mary Brey, has been promoted to the rank of Colonel in the United States Army, and assigned as professor of military science at the University of Detroit.
Brey recently completed a tour of duty in Iran, where he served as area engineer in the Gulf district.
Col. Brey’s picture appeared in the Iron River Reporter two years ago, showing him conferring with the Shah of Iran.
A career officer, Brey entered the United States Army in June of 1941.
A graduate of the Stambaugh high school class of 1936, he received his bachelor of science degree in engineering from Michigan State University, graduating in 1940. He also attended the University of Chicago for two years.
Brey has also served at the Pentagon in Washington.
Presently attached to Detachment 8, US Army ROTC Instructor Group at the University of Detroit, he and his wife Betie J. reside at 1220 Square Lake Road, Bloomfield Hills.
Brey is a member of the Society of Military Engineers.
