Boxer Rebellion Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Served in the China Relief Expedition during the Boxer Rebellion as a Captain in the 9th United States Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at Tientsin, China on July 13, 1900. His citation reads “While under fire rescued 2 of his men from drowning”. His Medal was awarded to him on September 15, 1903. He previously served in the conflicts against the Plains Indians on the American Frontier, and in the Spanish-American War. During World War I he was the American Expeditionary Forces’ Inspector General of the General Headquarters. In 1925 he retired with the rank of Major General. (bio by: Russ Dodge)
