According to U.S. Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles, Albert W. Brewer, aged 19 (he lied about his age to enlist), of Worcester, Massachusetts, and a machinist by trade, enlisted as a Private on January 9, 1863. He enlisted in Company G, Massachusetts 2nd Heavy Artillery Regiment on December 7, 1863. He was captured at Plymouth, North Carolina on April 20, 1864. He was imprisoned at Andersonville, and died there on September 5, 1864 (this is according to his headstone, however, the records state he died on November 1, 1864.) He was mustered out at Andersonville, Georgia on November 7, 1864.
