Mrs. Joy Millsaps Brewer, 91, passed away on April 1, 2016, at Dugan Memorial Home in West Point. Mrs. Joy was born December 17, 1924, in Clay County, the daughter of the late Hiram and Evie Elizabeth Ellis Millsaps. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse at Ivy Memorial Hospital. She also worked for both Dr. Harvey Flowers and Dr. R.B. Flowers. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Mary Martha Sunday School Class. She was also very active in "Banner" Ministry at Calvary Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and friend, that especially loved caring for children. After retirement, because of her love and devotion to children, she kept numerous children in her home. She married Mr. Colby Eversole Brewer on December 31, 1961, in West Point and he passed away June 15, 1990. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son: William T. "Dub" Terry; Sister: Imogene Brewer; Brothers: Leonidus Ellis Millsaps (Ola Mae) , Alexander Bryant Millsaps (Polly), Samuel Lawrence Millsaps (Louise), and Luther Lee Millsaps (Lucille), and by Brother-in-Law: Carroll Christopher.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 4, 2016, at 1:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Towery officiating and assisted by Reverend R.C. Bryan. Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery near Pheba, MS. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her Daughter, Dianne Downer (Buddy); her Son, Jimmy Terry (Janice) both of West Point; Six Grandchildren: Joy Dozier (Lee) of Southampton, N.J., Kasey Harrelson (Brad) of Houston, TX, Kale Terry (Susan) of West Point, Lindsey Gentry (Josh) of Starkville, Lyle Terry (Sue Lynn) of West Point, and Shea Terry (Lawanna) of West Point.; Twenty-four Great Grandchildren; and Three Great-Great Grandchildren; One Sister, Polly Christopher of West Point; and a host of Nieces and Nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kale Terry, Shea Terry, Lyle Terry, Tommy Millsaps, Kim Millsaps, and Bryant "Bubba" Millsaps.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Hiram Millsaps, Larry Cliett, Mary Hurt, Friends at Trinity Personal Care Home, Staff of Trinity Personal Care Home, Dr. Edmund A. Miller, Jr., and Dr. William Billington.

Memorials may be made to West Point/Clay County Animal Shelter, 1212 Old Tibbee Road, West Point, MS 39773 or to LeBonheur Childrens Medical Center, 50 Dunlap Street, Memphis, TN 38103.
