Lynda was born Oct. 3, 1941, in Bellingham, Wash., the first of three daughters to Charlie and Gertrude Brevick Petersen, Idaho natives.
After World War II ended, the family moved back to Moscow, where both parents had attended and graduated from the University of Idaho.
Lynda was raised in Moscow, attended school and graduated from Moscow High School in 1959.
She married John Ciboci, a UI Navy ROTC graduate, and enjoyed being the wife of a naval pilot, moving several times per Navy orders. She and John had one son, John Frederick Ciboci.
Lynda's adult life was spent in Sacramento. She was active in local newspaper journalism, belonged to a local book club, and provided strong support to her community's American Legion Auxiliary's Girls State program.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Debbie Petersen Hanawalt.
A celebration of Lynda's life took place Wednesday, May 29, in Sacramento.
There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Monday at the Moscow Cemetery, with Pastor Sue Ostrom of the First United Methodist Church officiating. There will be a reception following the service at the American Legion Cabin at 317 S. Howard St. in Moscow.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Legion and Legion Auxiliary.
