Mildred Brett Bailey
Mrs. Mildred Brett Bailey, a lifelong resident of Kosciusko, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 19, 2011.
Rev. Barry C. Corbett will officiate the services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel in Kosciusko.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 21.
Mrs. Bailey graduated from Kosciusko High School and was a long-time employee of Merchants and Farmers Bank in Kosciusko. She was the owner of a local shoe store, Mi-Lin's Shoes, and later established the Rainbow Collection, a framing and gift shop. Patrons were especially fond of the candy counter where sweet treats could be found along with a plentiful supply of gummy bears. She was a gifted artisan and seamstress taking great pride in her work. She especially enjoyed sewing, gardening, and painting. Mrs. Bailey spent countless hours in her flower garden and was a devout caretaker of many species of birds who wandered into her yard in search of food.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Homer Brett, two brothers, Albert H. "Hoss" Brett and John Haywood Brett, two sisters, Wilma Bickis and Thelma Anderson, and her husband, Thomas L. Bailey, Sr.
She is survived by sons, Dr. Thomas L. Bailey, Jr. of St. Louis, MO, Ron Bailey and Rick Bailey (Martha), a daughter, Linda Cockroft (Jimmy) all of Kosciusko, MS, grandchildren, Jane Claire Dawkins (Kelly), 2nd Lt. John M. Bailey U.S. Marine Corp., Anna Bailey, Penny Tollison (Jamie), Mary Margaret and Sam Cockroft, and one great-grandchild, Katelyn Tollison. She is also survived by a sister, Rachel Matthews of Pearl, MS.
Pallbearers will be John Anderson, Douglas "Red" Anderson, Bracky Brett, Jimmy Brett, Mike Matthews and Saleh Shawkat. Honorary pallbearers will be the loving members of the Kosciusko High School Class of 1947.
