June 11, 1915-Aug. 6, 2005

Services were Monday, Aug. 8, in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, with the Rev. Charles Buck officiating. Graveside service was in Pittsburg Baptist Cemetery, Pittsburg. Memorials may be made to the Pittsburg Baptist Cemetery or the Gideon Bible Society.

Lucy Marie Breshears was born June 11, 1915, at Pittsburg, the daughter of Douglas L. and Mary E. (Hooper) Pitts. She died Aug. 6, 2005, at the age of 90 years, 1 month and 26 days.

She grew up in Pittsburg where she attended Hartman Grove and Pittsburg one-room schools. She was a graduate of Hermitage High School. She moved to Omak, Wash., in 1940, where she was united in marriage with Ivan Breshears.

She taught school in her early adult years, was employed for a time at St. John's Hospital, but was primarily a homemaker. The last 28 years of her life were spent in the Hurley and Springfield communities. She enjoyed traveling overseas and within the United States to visit Ivan Jr., and family during the many years he made a career of serving his country in the U.S. Army.

She was lovingly cared for in the home of her daughter, Joan, that last few years of her life. She loved working in her vegetable and flower garden as long as her health permitted. She was an avid reader and could usually be found with a book in her hand. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was a member of Pomme de Terre Baptist church. She was dearly loved by her grandchildren and will be remembered by them for the good times they spent with her in her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ivan; three infant children; and two brothers: Garrett and Kenneith Pitts.

Survivors include two children: Joan and husband, Tom Northrip, Billings, and Ivan Jr., and wife, Mary Beth Breshears, Springfield; five granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bonniegene Shively, Springfield.
