BAIRD, A. Irene - 87, of Windsor, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in Hants Community Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born on March 20, 1922, in River Herbert, Cumberland Co., she was the daughter of the late Murdock and Pearl (Keith) Brenton. Irene graduated in 1945 from the Payzant Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Windsor, where she went on to nurse for a number of years. She then became a stay at home mom, raising her children and grandchildren. Irene loved to cook, especially making pies for her grandchildren. She attended many, many hockey games; her knowledge and memory of sports and current events were unparalleled. Irene will be missed by her children, grandchildren and all who knew her. Irene is survived by her daughters, Jo- Anna Fraser, New Ross; Mary Lou (Dumps) Dearman, St. Croix; her son, Hal (Lee- Ann), New Minas; grandchildren, Kimberley Frank (Troy Burgess), Jason (Sarah) Frank, Jamie (Crystal) Boyd, Ashley Boyd (Justin Macumber), Adam Boyd, Haley Baird and Evan Baird; great- grandchildren, Kailyn Frank, Amelia Frank, Jessa Macumber and Maxwell Burgess; sisters, June Jones, Ottawa, Ont.; Pauline Atkinson, Sackville, N.B.; brother, Vaughan Brenton, Chilliwack, B.C.; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, William "Bill" Harold Baird (1996); son- in- law, Phillip Boyd; sisters, Monica Keirstead and Phyllis Girard; brother, Gerald Brenton. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 7- 9 p.m. Friday, February 5, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., Windsor, where funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 6, with Rev. Bill Gibson and Pastor Stephen Williams officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery at a later date.
