OBITUARY FOR MAUDE EDITH (KING) BREINIG
--------
ARAPAHOE PUBLIC MIRROR, Arapahoe, Nebraska
Wednesday, December 25, 2002 pg 8
--------
Maude Edith (King) Breinig was born August 12, 1909 to Albert and Ida (Oatney) King. She was born at the home of her grandparents, John and Amy (Babbit) King, which was located southeast of Arapahoe, Nebraska. She grew up on a farm and went to a country school, later attending the Arapahoe High School.

On January 19, 1930 she married August (Babe) Breinig at Norton, Kansas. They made their home south of Arapahoe. To this union were born three children, Margaret, Doris and Lyle. Maude and Babe lived in their home until Babe passed away on May 21, 1992. Maude moved to town in 1993 and after suffering a stroke she made her home in the Elwood Care Center for about seven years. She passed away there on December 15, 2002 at the age of 93 years, four months and three days.

Maude became a member of the First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe and was baptized by Cecil Lackore on March 9, 1975. She helped the ladies quilt many quilts at the church. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, and the Mid Valley Club.

Maude and Babe farmed and did a lot of corn shelling. Babe ran the sheller and Maude ran the truck and scooped the corn. Mac Anderson said she could scoop more corn than any man.

In her spare time Maude made quilts for her children, grandchildren, and for many of her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She loved to sew and she embroidered many beautiful keepsakes for all of her family.

Those left to mourn her passing are her children: Margaret and husband Harvey Herbert of Arapahoe, Doris and husband Darrel Rauch of Byers, Colorado, and Lyle and wife Janice Breinig of Arapahoe; grandchildren: David Herbert, Shelia and husband Charles Pruitt of Arapahoe, Patricia and husband Mick Daughenbaugh of Beaver City, Donald and wife Margaret Herbert, Daniel and wife D.J. Herbert, Dick Herbert and wife Debra, all of Lexington, Gene Rauch and wife Debra of Nathrop, Colorado, Duane Rauch and wife Pam of Denver, Colorado, Shirley Kirby and husband Joe of Parker, Colorado, Lynn Welch and husband Todd, Randy Breinig and wife Ginger, and Cedonnia Hyde, all of Arapahoe; 42 great-grandchildren, 39 great-great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Lourien King of Brush, Colorado; four nephews, three nieces, many great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one infant granddaughter, Theresa Rauch, and her brother, Ray King.

Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hyeongdong Baek officiating and Toby tenBensel as the reader. Organist was Patty Reese and soloist was Bruce Sander. Solo Selections were "How Great Thou Art" and "Will The Circle Be Unbroken".

Pallbearers were grandsons: David, Donald, Daniel, and Dick Herbert, Gene and Duane Rauch, and Rany Breinig. Interment was in the Arapahoe Cemetery with Wenburg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
