Donald W. Breese II, 73, of Morton died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2008, in the emergency room at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
He was born Jan. 25, 1935, in Dayton, Ohio, to Donald W. and Leone B. (McLoud) Breese. He married Glenna Jeanne Lupton on Sept. 16, 1967, in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanne Breese of Morton; one daughter, Jackie "J.J." (John) Dalton of Morton; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Jordan Dalton, both of Morton; and two sisters, JoAnn Buck of Sarasota, Fla., and Nancy J. (James) Ryan of Evanston, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was an Army veteran and a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria.
Donald taught science and social studies at Central School in Washington until his retirement in 1993. During his teaching career, he mentored many youths and was a co-founder of the Tazewell County Court Counseling Program.
He served on the Morton Zoning Board of Appeals and was a 1982 charter member of Tough Love in Washington.
He also wrote the "In My Opinion" column for the Morton Courier and Tazewell County News.
He was of the Methodist faith and a former Sunday school teacher.
Don was always available to listen and encourage. This was one of his great joys - helping people. Regardless of his health situation, he channeled his strength and energy into helping others.
