"Lura Sylvia Bacon, daughter of the late Clint (L. C.) and Camelia (Madden) Breeden, was born February 5, 1917 in Bloodland, wheer she grew up and attended school.

On December 19, 1945, Lura was united in marriage to George Raymond "Dud" Bacon...Dud preceded her in death on November 12, 2002.

Lura was a hardworking woman. She worked at Dodd's Store on the Waynesville Square for 8 years and then began teaching school. She taught at Turkey Ridge for 3years, Mt. Gibson for 1 year, Bates for 1 year and Hooker for 1 year. She and Dud lived on their farm and raised everything they ate. They had a huge vegetable garden and Lura would can everything they would harvest. Lura was a wonderful cook and would bake cookies every week, especially for the mailman. She was very talented with her hands and would make beautiful quilts.

Lura accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior as a young girl and she and Dud were charter members of the Mt. Gibson Baptist Church. They were faithful members as long as their health would permit them.

Lura went home to be reunited with Dud for Christmas the morning of Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at the St. John's Hospital in Lebanon, at the age of 90 years.

Lura will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by two nieces, Camelia Bacon of Springfield, and Lorene Barnes of Springfield; two nephews, Frank Breeden of Springfield, and Richard Breeden of Waynesville; several great nephews and nieces; great-great nephews and nieces; several other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and Dud, Lura was preceded in death by one sister: Virginia Atterberry and one brother: Ralph Breeden.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2007 in Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Richard Breeden officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang 'In The Garden', 'Old Rugged Cross' and 'I Won't Have to Cross Jordan Alone.'...

Burial followed in the Crocker Memorial Park Cemetery..."
