Uncle Fred was the seventh child of David and Daisy Alveretta Riegel Breech. He was married to Alberta Shapenas on December 1, 1945. They had three daughters: Gloria Breech Saucier (F A G Hillside), Rose "Cookie" Breech, and Linda Breech Plunkett.

Survivors include his wife, Alberta; daughters, Linda Phumkett and Rose M.; sisters: Pauline Tyson, Pearl Karnes, Charlotte Stellfox, Betty Pehowick, Patricia Eveland and Nancy Wynings; brothers, Robert, Harry and William; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
