Elda Wilhelmine Bredemeyer, nee Brandt, 90, Berger, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, in New Haven. Mrs. Brandt was born Aug. 13, 1917, at Detmold, the daughter of Edward Brandt and wife Josephine, nee Lagemann. She was confirmed on March 20, 1932, at St. Paul's Evangelical Church in Gerald. Mrs. Brandt attended school at Detmold. Before her marriage, she cared for five Schultz children for eight years in Washington, including Rudy Jr., Marilyn Lanwermeyer, Ruth Riley and Jim and Kenny Schultz. On Aug. 3, 1940, she was united in marriage to Lawrence William Bredemeyer at the Methodist parsonage in Berger.
She and her husband ran a dairy farm in the Senate Grove/Stony Hill area for many years. Mrs. Brandt was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, Senate Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence, on Nov. 7, 1974; one son, Don William, on March 10, 2005; two brothers, Ralph Brandt on March 5, 2006, and Victor Brandt on March 7, 2006; one sister-in-law, Lorene Von Behren Brandt; and three brothers-in-law, Ralph Rohlfing, George Bredemeyer and Earl Heinlein. Mrs. Brandt is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Jean; one sister, Alice Rohlfing, Hermann; one brother, Harold Brandt, New Haven; three sisters-in-law, Mildred Von Behren Brandt, Helen Schutt Brandt and Margaret Bredemeyer Heinlein; one daughter-in-law, Ruth Borcherding Bredemeyer; four grandchildren, Bryan and Tess Bredemeyer and Kevin Bredemeyer, Bonaparte, Iowa, Arron Bredemeyer, St. Joseph, and Ryan and Peggy Bock, Lisbon, Iowa; five great-grandchildren, Nathan, Kyle and Colby Bredemeyer, Bonaparte, Iowa, and Emma and Alex Bock, Lisbon, Iowa; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 17, at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann. The Rev. Becky Schmidt officiated. Burial was in Immanuel United Methodist Cemetery, Senate Grove. Memorials to the Immanuel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund are preferred.
