Was born in Devon England in 1833, He trained as a mining Engineer and then immigrated to America in the early 1860's settling in Gold Hill Nevada where he worked as an Engineer in the Belcher Mine. He was killed during a cave in on Aug. 17th 1874 at age 41 and was laid to rest in the Gold Hill cemetery. His grave marker has been smashed or stolen by vandals
