Lillie Elisa Brauner
Lillie Elisa Brauner, deceased, was born in Shiner Aug 8, 1891, having attained the age of 40 years at the time of her passing. At the age of 19 she moved to Schulenburg. In 1913 she was married to Otto Brauner, this union was blessed with four children, namely, Aline, Mildred, Grace and Royce.
Deceased had been in ill health going on five years, she was practically an invalid for the past year. She was relieved of her suffering at 11:15 Tuesday night, November 17th, when the Angel of Death severed the Silver Cord of Life and wafted her spirit back to Him who gave it.
Funeral services were conducted from the family residence Thursday afternoon, the body being conveyed to the Lutheran Church of which deceased was a faithful member, where Rev. Paul Piepenbrok, her pastor, held services. Thence the body was conveyed to the family burial ground in the Old High Hill Cemetery were Rev. Piepenbrok delivered a fitting eulogy while the Lutheran Choir sang touching songs. the funeral was one of the saddest ever held in this section, we don't believe there were any dry eyes, everyone shed tears of genuine sympathy and grief over the loss of this noble character. Even Rev. Piepenbrok broke down and it was with extreme difficulty that he completed his services. The grave and entire cemetery lot was covered with one mass of flowers, the most gorgeous array witnessed here in many days.
The Fire Boys turned out in a body and acted as pall bearers. The entire business life of this community closed the doors of their establishments as a mark of respect to this wonderful lady and her esteemed relatives.
Deceased is survived by her husband, the four children: Aline, Mildred, Grace and Royce, one sister, Mrs. Willie Keuper and her foster mother, Mrs. Paul Stuercke.
