John C. BRAUDA was born in South Carolina to Josiah BRAUDA I & his wife Winifred; the family moved from Prince William Parish, Beaufort District, South Carolina to Screven County in the mid-1850s. He was the brother of Sarah E. BRAUDA MINORS, "Sally". About 1871, he married the widow Jane Ann BURNS CONNER; she died in 1897, and he was buried beside her, and near to two of their children that they had buried there, their young son, Walton W. BRAUDA, and their baby, Ula BRAUDA, along with an adult son by her first marriage, Norwood F. CONNER.
These memorials to members of the HODGES and related families of Effingham and Screven Counties are dedicated to William Clifford REEVES of North Carolina, who died in 2006, a dedicated and generous genealogist with whom I researched these families during 1999-2001.
