Geraldine LaMay Bratton married Robert Marion Barnhart on August 17, 1947. Together they had four children: Sandra Lee Barnhart b. 25 May 1948, Linda Susan Barnhart b. 25 Apr 1952, Carol Ann Barnhart b. 14 Dec 1956, and Robert Bryan b. 3 Apr 1962.

She was the daughter of Orrie Albert Bratton (1884-1955) and Geertje "Gertie" Reit (1900-1979) from Nieuw Beerta, Holland.
