"TYPHOID CLAIMS ITS FIRST VICTIM IN DAVENPORT
Miss Cloe Belle Bratcher was born on January 13th, 1901, and died at Davenport on August 13, 1916, aged 15 years and 7 months. She had been sick for about five weeks with typhoid fever, and just the day before her death seemed to be getting along fairly well. Just a short time before her death she announced as her intention to join the Christian church as soon as she got well.
Cloe was not very well acquainted around Davenport, but everyone who knew her liked her because she seemed so quiet ad modest.
Her death means a great loss to the family and everyone joins us in extending condolence to the bereaved relatives.
Rev. Carr, a Christian minister from near Kendrick, conducted the funeral in the Christian church here Monday evening at 3 o'clock and the body was laid to rest in the Davenport cemetery."
