Lafayette (Fate) Eugene Brasher was born in Texas in 1902. He later married Jessie Reese Nicholas. They moved to Kenna where Fate acted as a Kenna school bus driver. On July 30, 1940, Fate was a passenger in an automobile accident on the Clovis-Portales highway about 2 miles from Portales. He was killed almost instantly. He left behind his widow and four children Winston Eugene, Jimmy Dale, Lelton Wayne, and Janice. He is now buried in Kenna Cemetery in Kenna, NM alongside Jessie Reese who lived until 1990.
