Birth: Mar. 5, 1925
Death: Sep. 3, 2008

Bertie Eudora "Sissy" Brashears, 83, passed on to her Lord and Savior Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, in New Braunfels, Texas, her home for many years. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Ft. Sam Houston Military Cemetery, downtown San Antonio, alongside her late husband and decorated World War II veteran, William "Bill" Brashears.

Eudora was born in Dot, Texas, close to Mooreville, a small farming community just outside Waco. A child of the great depression, she understood the need for sharing and compassion in regards to her family, loved ones, as well as her many friends. For her entire life on this imperfect earth, she practiced what she preached. She had the face of an angel and a heart of gold. Eudora graduated from Waco High School in 1942, and remained in Waco, where she worked for many years as credit manager for Steakley Brothers Chevrolet. Later she moved to San Antonio as credit manager for Gillespie Ford. She was a steadfast, love, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her striking outer beauty surpassed only by her loving, gracious, warm and unselfish heart. Her friends and family know very well that she was as close to perfect as any one woman could possibly be. If an unassuming, simple, gentle, pleasant and kind person could ever be great, it would be her. She will be missed beyond description.

Sissy, as her friends and family called her, was preceded in death by her husband, William Carl Brashears Jr.; her mother, Lena Belle Cooper; her father, James Len Taylor; sisters, Lean Lorraine Hunke and Betty Jean Krula; nephews, Cecil Ellis and Gary Meier; and niece, Judy Miller.

Sissy is survived by her son, Robert Brashears and wife, Barbara Ann, of Angel Fire, N.M.; daughters, Billie Carol Alvarez, of Schertz, Texas, and Becky Jean Brashears, of New Braunfels, Texas; granddaughters, Tracey Nichol Nixon, of Schertz, Texas, and Bobbi Kaye Roberts and husband, Robbie, of Woodway; grandsons, David Brashears, of Orlando, Fla., Sean Alvarez and wife, Christy, of Schertz, Texas, John Bradley Bernard, of Austin; great-grandsons, Jacob Michael Nixon, of Schertz, Texas, Donovan Lee Brashears, of Orlando, Fla., and Harlan Cole Roberts, of Woodway; nephews, Brooks, Richard and Kent Ellis, all of Austin; niece, Susie Branch, of Waco; and sister, Janie Waldrop, of Waco.
