Esther Brasel, 91, of Perham, MN, died Thursday, November 15, 2007, at the Perham Memorial Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be Monday, November 19, 2007, at 11:00 am at St. John's Lutheran Church, Corliss Township, Perham, with Reverend Richard Boehnke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, November 18, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home from 4:00 - 8:00 pm, and also one hour prior to services at the church.
Esther Koehler was born April 16, 1916, in rural Perham, the daughter of Adolph and Martha (Rothiger) Koehler. She grew up in Pine Lake Township, except for three years spent in Idaho, 1924-1927.
On September 4, 1935, she was united in marriage to Fred Brasel at St. John's Lutheran Church, Corliss, where she was also baptized and confirmed. They lived by Koehler's Resort until 1943. Later that year they moved to Butler Township where they farmed until 1955 and in 1959 moved into Perham. Esther worked at Richter's Grocery for thirteen years and at the Perham Public School as a cook until she retired. Fred died in 1996. Esther began living at the Perham Memorial Home in March 2006. She enjoyed crafts, playing cards, and fishing.
Esther is survived by her son, Dale Brasel, Perham, MN; two granddaughters, Wendy (Arden) Kjono, Fergus Falls, MN; and Angie (Brad) Bushinger, Wadena, MN; two great granddaughters, Alexandra Urvand and Elisabeth Kjono; one great grandson, Mackenzie Urvand, all of Fergus Falls, MN; and one brother, Clarence Koehler, Staples, MN.
Preceding Esther in death are her parents; husband, Fred; and a brother, Raymond Koehler in 2007.
