Son of Charles F. and Mary (Smith) Branton. Married first to Sarah Ellen Hudler on October 11, 1896. Married second to Susie Condra Greenhaw on January 3, 1915.

Mr. Charles Edward Branton, who was a native of Alabama, and came to this area with his parents at the age of five years, departed this life Saturday afternoon, October 10, 1964, in Fleming Hospital in Elgin, Texas.

Funeral was held at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in McDade with Rev. Hylon Vickers and Rev. Malcolm Bane officiating. Burial was in the McDade Cemetery under direction of Condra Funeral Home of Taylor.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Louis D. Branton, Virgil J. Branton, Phillip D. Samuelson, Benton Guentzel and Roger Taylor.

Mr. and Mrs. Branton had made their home in Elgin since moving from McDade in 1946.

He was converted into the Christian church at the age of 16 years but united with the Baptist Church about twenty years ago. He and his wife worshiped in the First Baptist Church in Elgin until their health began to fail.

Mr. Branton was married October 18, 1896, to the former Sarah Hudler, who preceded him in death January 18, 1914. To this union was born six children, two daughters, Mrs. V. D. Taylor and Mrs. A. P. Samuelson, both of Austin and four sons, Trumer E. Branton of Dallas; Tryon J. Branton and Dell M. Branton, both of Austin, and Newell J. Branton who preceded him in death September 9, 1964.

On January 3, 1915, Mr. Branton and Mrs. Susie Condra Greenhaw were united in marriage. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Verna Lee Guentzel of Elgin.

He is survived by his wife, six children and two step-sons, Alton Greenhaw of McDade and Benton Greenhaw of Austin; one sister, Mrs. Dora Scott of San Marcos, and two brothers, Nick Branton and Byron Branton, both of Austin. Also 21 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Interment was in the McDade Cemetery.
