Seymour T. Brantner, 90, of 916 Hickory St., Hollidaysburg, died Sunday morning at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.
He was born in Williamsburg, the son of Seymour P. and Margaret J. (Dobson) Brantner. He married Erma B. Helsel July 29, 1942, in Hollidaysburg. She died Jan. 15, 2006.
He is survived by two daughters: Janet Strouse of Tyrone and Barbara J. McAllister of Centre Hall; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Palm Brantner of Escondito, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas A.; and two sisters: Lucy Gailey and infant, Gladys.
Mr. Brantner was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg.
He retired in 1981 as a professor in the College of Education at Penn State University with 25 years of service. Prior to that, he taught and was supervisor at Williamsport Technical Institute for 10 years.
He was a 1936 graduate of Williamsburg High School. He graduated in 1940 from Lock Haven State Teachers' College with a B.S. degree, graduated in 1955 from Penn State University with a M.S. degree and received his Doctor of Education degree in 1962 from the University of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Brantner enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing, and loved his grandchildren.
There will be no visitation. A private service will be held by Vicar Jeff Bassette. Interment will be at Alto Reste Park. The family requests that donations be made to Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries, 916 Hickory St., Hollidaysburg, or to Zion Lutheran Church, Allegheny & Union streets, Hollidaysburg.
