Mrs. Mary Ann Brantley/Benson, 88, native and life long resident of Marietta and Cobb County died early Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B. F. York, 318 Powder Springs Street.
Mrs. Benson, affectionately known as Miss Molly, is the widow of the late J. D. Benson, of Marietta, who died in 1922. She was born at Acworth, September 4, 1853, the daughter of Rebecca Tanner/Brantley and Dr. W. R. Brantley. She married Mr. Benson in 1871.
She joined the Noonday Baptist Church in 1875 and was a member until her death.
Mrs. Benson is survived by three daughters, Mrs. B. F. York, Mrs. C. O. Brooks, and Mrs. Mary B. Moore; two sons, J. A. and R. L. Benson, a daughter in law, Mrs. W. E. Benton, a sister in law, Mrs. J. S. Brantley, of Marietta; 18 grandchildren and 11 great grand children.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 12 at 2:30 o'clock from the First Baptist Church with the Rev. E. T. Booth and Dr. George F. Brown officiating. Interment in City Cemetery.
The following named gentlemen will serve as pallbearers and are asked to please meet at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Brooks, 208 Roswell Street at 2 o'clock Wednesday; Mr. Jesse Fowler, Mr. John Fowler, Mr. Luther Brantley, Mr. Leonard Brantley, Mr. Ralph Dunn and MR. Fred Dunn.

Mary was the daughter of Dr. Wm. Radford Brantley and Rebecca Tanner/Brantley. She was born in Acworth, Ga. and died in Marietta, Cobb Co, Ga. She was 88 years old when she died. She was married to John Donald Benson on 9/10/1871 in Cobb Co, Georgia. She had 18 grandchildren and 11 great grand children at her death.
Gravesite Details
Two of her sons, Wm. Luther Benson and Dr. Warren Edgar Benson are both buried here. Mary is buried in the Benson plot, but there is also a Brantley plot.
