Rhoda S Brantley was the daughter of Edward Brantley and Nancy Joyner. She was born in North Carolina in 1806 and moved with her family to Washington County, Georgia. She first married John Ely on Jul 8, 1821, and with him had five children. Their names were Edward Brantley Ely, Martha Ely, Nancy Elizer Ely, Rebecca O Prudence Ely, and Sarah Ann Elizzabeth Ely. The children's names from the text of Brantley-Hunt records gathered from Mrs. Nannie Nelson's Family Bible, found at the GA State Archives by WT Brantley. After John Ely died, Rhoda married John Richard Bedgood on Oct 18, 1840. They had one son together, James William Franklin Bedgood. Rhoda was listed as an heir of Edward Brantley in his will of 1842. She is listed with John Richard Bedgood and her children on the 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 Washington County censuses. In 1880 she is listed in the household of her son James William Franklin. Rhoda died in 1885 and was buried in the Bedgood Family Cemetery near her son and husband. Rhoda is my GGGrandmother.
