Nedra L. Blount, 90, of Palatka, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at the Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka following an extended illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Putnam County. She was the matriarch of the family. Mrs. Blount worked for many years as a bookkeeper for the former family business, Blount Plumbing Company, in Palatka. She also worked for the former Hyers Cleaners in Palatka. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Palatka, where she sang in the adult choir and the "New Life Singers." Before declining in health, Nedra enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, camping and traveling. After retiring, she and her husband spent many happy hours participating in the Golden Rockers camping group.
Mrs. Blount was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Bertie Brantley; one sister, Alene Wilkinson; one great-granddaughter, Brittany M. Blount; and one great-grandson, James Carroll.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Donald E. Blount of Palatka; two sons and daughter-in-law, John Allen Blount and Elden and Betty Blount, all of Palatka; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Chris Lowery of Jacksonville; 15 grandchildren, Allen Blount, David Blount, Gail Porter, Steve Blount, Judy Morris, Phillip Blount, Joe Blount, Tim Blount, Beth Blount, Sarah Erazo, Carol Register, Mary Ellen Irvin, Debra Knight, Doris Monahan and Stephanie Lowery; 32 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at Masters Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Rabun officiating. Interment will be in Peniel Cemetery, Palatka
