Emmett Johnson Brantley Sr. was born October 29, 1924, in Birmingham, Alabama a son of Johnson and Carnie Adell (Thomas) Brantley.
He was a plasterer by trade and worked for Kreps Drywall & Plastering Company of Youngstown for many years.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
His wife Roma Louise Brantley whom he married July 31, 1948 passed away June 3, 2010.
He is survived by his children Beverly (Calvin) Taylor of Youngstown; Emma Jean (Samuel) Cox of Woodstock, Georgia; Emmett Brantley Jr. of Smyrna, Georgia, Laura Eileen Casey of Smyrna, Georgia; Diane Brantley of Smyrna, Georgia; Thomas (Debra) Brantley of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Kenneth Brantley of Marietta, Georgia; Helena Brantley of Hubbard, Ohio; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He also leaves his sisters, Minyon B. Miller, and Jimmie Lee Fort both of California.
Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his son Norman Brantley, his sisters Saundra Jean McDaniel, Doris Phillips, and his brothers Frederick Douglas Brantley, Thomas Earl, and infant brother Jesse.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.
