Statesboro - Mrs. Cora Eugenia Lanier Brantley, age 93, died Wednesday, March 9th, 2011, at Browns Health and Rehabilitation, under the care of Odyssey Hospice. The Bulloch County native was the daughter of the late Loren Wadley Lanier and Eunice Verna Lanier. Mrs. Brantley was a graduate of Portal High School and resided in Statesboro most of her life. She was a member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class and the Senior Adult Choir. For many years, Mrs. Brantley was active in her community, serving as a former member of the Statesboro Beautification Commission, the Statesboro Tree Board, Magnolia Garden Club and the Warnock Homemakers Club. She and her husband, Marion, were very involved with the Statesboro Kiwanis Club, spending their vacation each year managing the Pancake House during the Kiwanis-Ogeechee Fair. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed china painting.

Mrs. Brantley was preceded in death by her husband, J. Marion Brantley; two brothers, Rupert Lanier and Finney Lanier; and a sister-in-law, Reba Parrish Lanier.

Surviving are two nieces and their husbands, Marcia and Frank Parker and Christy and Tim Bohler, all of Statesboro; two nephews and their wives, Bob and Terri Lanier and Dale and Donna Lanier, all of Statesoro; a stepsister and her husband, Irma and Jack Todd of Statesboro; and a sister-in-law, Jean Lanier of Portal.

The funeral service will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Dr. H. William Perry officiating. Interment will be in the Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro.
