Birth: Apr. 13, 1896
Death: Aug. 19, 1898

Hattie Mae Brant was one of twelve children of Israel L. "Izzy" and Clara Elizabeth "Clarice" (Sibel) Brant. Only 4 of her siblings grew to adulthood. Hattie was probably born in Clark County, Iowa since her father signed marriage record papers for Hattie's older sister Emma there 2 months after Hattie was born. Israel declared Clark County as his residence.

Her parents traveled by covered wagon to Springview, Keya Paha County, Nebraska shortly after her birth and Mattie died there in Aug. 1898. Their travel was spoken of often by Emma Brant Heeb and is documented in family history.

After Hattie died, Israel and Clara sold their homestead and moved to Madison County, Iowa. They are buried together in the Montpelier Cemetery in Crawford Township.
