Mrs. Branson was an active member of Carvosso United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and held many other offices before her illness. She was an active member of the Abingdon Senior Citizens group. She worked for the Virginia Highway Department as a secretary for many years.
Her husband, Joe W. Branson preceded her in death.
Mrs. Branson is survived by her son, Dr. Donald Branson and his wife, Charlotte of Lynchburg, VA, three grandsons, Steven Branson and his wife, Maria of La Eliana, Spain; Alan Branson and his wife, Susan of Madison, MS; Matthew Branson and his wife, Nicole of Glen Allen, VA and ten great grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Branson, before her death specifically requested that there be no public viewing after her death. She also requested "no flowers". Visitation will be at Frost Funeral Home, 250 E. Main Street, Abingdon, VA from 10 until 11 A.M., on Tuesday, July 6, 2010. The funeral service will follow at 11 A.M., Tuesday in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Leonard Smith will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Hills Memory Gardens immediately following the funeral service.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Charles O'Dell, Carl Kelsey, Jr. Jerry Hughes, Wayne Hughes, Dennis O'Neal and James Lowe.
