Although she used the name 'Caroline,'her record reads Anna Caroline M. Boettger.

In 1880 she immigrated with husband John Boettger to Manteno, IL where her brothers lived. In 1887 the family moved to Sullivant Township of Ford County. They had ten children, six of whom were born in Sullivant Township.

According to the family entry in Sibley Centennial book (1977) the children attended rural Bell School. During the summer they would attend Lutheran German Summer School in Sibley. In the fall, the children often found it difficult to write in English after they had written German all summer.
