Donald Dean Brandau was born June 24, 1934, in Osage, the son of Milton and Myrtle (Naig) Brandau. He attended school in Osage and Charles City. Donald served his country in the United States Army Airborne. He was united in marriage to Lillian Welter at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Charles City, in September 1955.
He enjoyed Horseshoe competitions and had won many trophies in competition play throughout the area. He also enjoyed playing cards with his family and worked diligently on his family genealogy.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian of Charles City; daughter, Rose (Kenneth) Kreis of Mason City; granddaughter, Angel Bigelow of Milwaukee, Wis.; one brother, Milton (Maureen) Brandau Jr. and one sister, Jeanne (Bernie) Meyer, both of Charles City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Mary Lou; one brother, Larry; and two sisters in infancy.
