Died in automobile accident.

Robert O. Brand was the son of the late Charles W. and Lela Friend Brand. He was born August 27, 1918, at Mulberry and attended the Mulberry school. Later the family moved to Bloomington where he graduated from Bloomington high school.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Army Air Corps. He was employed at the Peerless Wire Goods Co. in Lafayette.

On Oct. 26, 1946, he was married to Tina Datsko of Gary. She survives along with one sister, Mrs. Thomas Connor of Gary.

Mr. Brand was a member of the Dayton Methodist church, Mulberry Lodge No. 618, F. & A. M., serving as its senior deacon at the time of his death; the Scottish Rite at Indianapolis, and the American Legion post No. 11 at Lafayette.

Last rites were held at 10:30 this morning - Thursday - at the Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Lloyd Menerey of Dayton officiating. Burial was in the Dayton cemetery, with American Legion rites at graveside. Masonic rites were held at the funeral home Wednesday night.

Mr. Brand was a cousin of Mrs. Albert Stewart of West Lafayette and Robert Friend, a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team. He was a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Brand and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Friend.
