Beverly Brand Anderson died on Tuesday, September 29, 2009.
She was born in Winfield, Ks., on July 20, 1934 to John W. Brand Sr. and Catharine Snyder Brand of Lawrence, Kansas. She was raised and educated in Lawrence, receiving a B.S. in Education from the University of Kansas in 1956.
Shortly after graduation, Beverly married Robert C. (Bob) Anderson. They lived in Ardmore, Ok.; Oklahoma City, Ok.; Dallas, Texas; and White Bear Lake, Mn., before moving to Signal Mountain, in the fall of 1970.
Beverly and Bob have three children, the Rev. Jon R. Anderson (Santa Fe, N.M.), Christopher M. Anderson (Evergreen Park, Il.) and Elizabeth A. Meyer (Knoxville).
Beverly's early career included teaching assignments in first, second and third grades in Ardmore and Oklahoma City. She then took time to be a stay at home mother and homemaker. She returned to teaching in 1984 and retired in 1999 after teaching for many years at Bachman Elementary School where she was much loved by her students.
She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and an Honorary Life Member of the Tennessee Congress of Parents and Teachers.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; daughter, Elizabeth; sons, Jon and Chris; granddaughter, Connor, and brother, Jack Brand.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Outreach Education Fund at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, Signal Mountain, or Hospice of Chattanooga.
Burial will be at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with private graveside services.
A memorial service will be conducted at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church on Saturday, October 17, at 2 p.m.
