He was born Sept. 20, 1925, in Tippecanoe County, son of the late Hobart W. and Margaret Yost Brand. He was a 1944 graduate of Dayton High School.
He served in the Marine Corps and was awarded a Purple Heart.
On Nov. 27, 1954, he was married to Lucille Stultz. She died in 2000.
Mr. Brand was a hod carrier for several years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Hod Carriers Union, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post 11.
He enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, hunting and spending time in nature.
Surviving are a daughter, Arlene Cosner (husband: Andrew) of Indianapolis; three brothers, Gordon Brand and Lowell K. Brand, both of Lafayette, and Lee A. Brand of West Lafayette; and four sisters, Rose A. Thompson of Burbank, Calif., and Marjorie Ann Gilbert, Julia Morrison (husband: Donald) and Nancy K. Buck (husband: James), all of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Gerald G. Brand.
