BRANCO, Antero Tavares Of Braintree formerly of Dorchester and Terceira, Azores, passed away Monday June 28, 2010 after a period of failing health. He would have been 83 on July 6. Born in Sao Miguel, Mr. Branco was raised in Terceira, and served his native country in the Portuguese Army. Afterward, he and his young family immigrated to the United States in 1970, living in Dorchester before finally settling in Braintree in 1984. He was a former Supervisor at the Joseph Pollack Corp, Dorchester. He was the devoted husband of 58 years to Emilia (Avila) Branco of Braintree, Loving father of Antero A. Branco and wife Rosa of Montreal, Canada, Paul H. Branco and wife Roseann of W.Brookfield, Aida M. Luce of Brandon, FL, and Emilia B. Ruiz and husband Henry of Braintree. Dear Brother of Joanne Sabino of East Bridgewater, Aida Pinheiro of Haverhill, and Eduardia Soares & Helen Guerreiro, both of Ft. Worth, TX. He was the cherished grandfather of 11, and Great Grandfather of 3. He was preceded in death by a sister, the late Maria Manuela Boss. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated this Thursday, July 1, at 10:00 A.M. in St. Thomas More Church, 8 Hawthorne Rd., Braintree, MA. Visiting hours respectfully omitted. Interment will take place privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Antero's memory may be made to: Alzheimer's Association , MA Chapter, 311 Arsenal St, Watertown, MA 02472.
