Birth: Aug. 15, 1838
Death: Oct. 11, 1899

Born Alfred Branch in Pitt County, NC. Middle name could be Bowden but this is unknown. Moved to Georgia after his son Wiliam Halsey Branch was involved in a murder at Calico, NC.
Alfred Branch was the son of Dennis and Rebecca Branch.
Their children were: Argins (Female - spelled Argent as well); John, Mary Page, Alfred B., James F. (or James S.) and Dennis. Six children.
Alfred had a son named William Halsey Branch and this family left Pitt County, NC for GA. Brothers of Alfred, James and Dennis were killed in the Civil War. I think Alfred fought in the Civil War as well. Brother John Branch stayed in Pitt County, NC near Winterville. Their father, Dennis, had died before the war started in 1847. The mother was Rebecca Elizabeth Dowdy. Alfred's wife was Sarah Frances Moore also of Pitt County, NC birth.
Alfred is in the Pitt 1880 Census with his own family and this is the last census in NC that he was listed in.
William Halsey Branch was his son. There is a NC Court Case in 1886 Pitt County NC Superior Court involving A.B.Branch and his mother Rebecca Branch with the Page family over land inheritance.
>From a Greenville NC newspaper:
"Fight at Calico: Calvin Cox killed by Halsey Branch, G.P. Venters, E.R., 17 October 1888.": This is William Halsey Branch; the name Halsey is very unusual in the Branch family and its origin is unknown. Calico is a crossroads in southeastern in Pitt County. This incident had something to do with the family moving to Georgia. William Branch was charged in the crime but it is unknown how and why they managed to leave the state.
