Conce Griffin Bramlett, age 63, died at his home here Wednesday morning at about 4 o'clock. He had been in poor health for some time.
Besides his widow Mr. Bramlett is survived by four sons: Melvin, of Long Island, New York, C. G., Jr., of Alexander City, Thomas Bryan, of Grenada Field, Miss., and Ralph, with the U. S. Army stationed in England; one daughter, Mrs. Roy Gilbert, of West Point, Ga.; five grandchildren, four sisters, and two brothers.
Funeral services for Mr. Bramlett were held Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Lowell Auditorium by the Revs. W. W. Lankford and C. J. Hurst. Interment was in the Roanoke City Cemetery, Quattlebaums Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Bramlett had been with Handley Manufacturing Co. for about 35 years being overseer of carding all of that time. Page Enloe, superintendent of the company, recalls that for a long time this mill Company was unique in having as overseers three brothers-in-law J. L. Dudley, T. H. Bishop, and C. G. Bramlett three fine gentlemen highly respected by all who were associated with them, Mr. Bramlett was a member of the Handley Avenue Baptist church, serving as deacon for many years. The large attendance at the funeral and the many gorgeous floral displays spoke eloquently, though silently, of the high esteem in which he was held by his fellow-citizens of Roanoke.
