NEWPORT – Phyllis M. Bean, 93, went home to be with the Lord, August 29, 2014 at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born December 8, 1920 in Mapleton, a daughter of Fred and Mary “May” (Hume) Braley.

Phyllis was a member of the Jubilee Family Worship Center in Newport and the Newport Senior Citizens.

She is survived by her husband Wilbur of Newport; a daughter Sharron Bates of Enfield, CT; a son Paul and wife Jackie Ludden of Rockville, CT; a step-daughter, Kathy Bean of Kittery; a daughter-in-law, Norma Ludden of Pittsfield; 14 grandchildren, Stuart and wife Diane, Scott and wife Rose, Dale and wife Les, Bambi and husband Bruce, Lori, Angie, Rex, David Jr. and wife Kathy, Les, Jr., Teresa, Kevin and wife Denise, Melissa, Breck, and Tammy; 19 great grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, 3 sons, Ronald and his wife Alma , Russell and wife Lorraine, and David; 5 brothers, Lee, Floyd, Ken, Elmer, and Wesley; 4 sisters, Etta Grendell, Alma Doherty, Eveleine Ludden and Grace Lander; 2 granddaughters, Sherry and Delores; and a son-in-law, Leslie Bates, Sr.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, September 2nd at the Jubilee Family Worship Center, 163 Elm Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 1 P. M. Wednesday with the Revs. Scott Black and Brian Woodbury officiating.
