James Sherman Brady, my grandfather, was born 2 August, 1861, South Mahoning, Indiana County, PA. Moved to Kansas as a young man, married Docia Estella Alwilda (Estella) Reynolds 7, Oct, 1901, my grandmother. He was previously married in 1888 to Ella Eakins, who died of tuberculosis in Jan 1901, leaving 2 young sons. With Estella, they had 9 children, Lelia, Lester, Louis, Lanier, Logan, Mary Louise (my mother), Lucille, Elizabeth and Carole. He worked as a teacher and postal carrier in Kansas and Modesto. Estella died as a result of a house fire in 1928 after they had moved to Modesto.
