obituary appeared July 12, 1901 Dallas Morning News:

MORTUARY. BRADLEY. Denton, Tex., July 11. Dr. E.G. Bradley, one of the pioneer settlers of Denton County and a prominent physician of Lewisville, died this week aged 76 years. He came to this county in 1855.

Census info rec'd from Connie Kelley 8 Mar 2014
1850 census he was living in Alabama
1866 he was living in Arkansas
1880 census Dr. Bradley and family were
living in Freeman, Woodruff, Arkansas.
1900 census Dr. Bradley and family were
living in Denton

Dr. E.G. Bradley was married to Mary Susan Puryear, and her obituary from 1915, and some Denton County Tax records clear things up. They arrived in Denton County in 1885. He died in 1901, and was 66 years old. I think the headstone engraver etched the 2 in 1902 incorrectly, and the obituary writer mistook 1885 for 1855 and embellished the story about him being a pioneer settler.
Also, he was not in the Texas Confederate Army.
